Why: Ensure your app meets legal requirements and provides essential information to your subscribers by configuring your footer and About screen. This feature allows you to surface important links like Privacy, Terms, and Cookies, while also providing a seamless mobile experience without a fixed footer.

Navigate: App Station > Settings > Branding & Design > Footer & About

Quick Start

  1. Build your legal pages in the Page Builder first.

  2. Click Add Link and choose Internal Page to point to one of your pages (or External for an outside URL), then give it a short label.

  3. Reorder links using the up/down arrows (max 20).

  4. Edit or delete a link using the row actions.

  5. Edit the Copyright text if needed.

  6. Toggle Show About screen in the mobile menu off if you do not want the About entry to appear in the mobile menu.

Understanding the Footer and About Screen

The footer and About screen serve two different purposes depending on the device being used:

  • Desktop (≥ 1024px): The footer appears at the bottom of every page, providing a traditional layout with links and copyright information.

  • Mobile / PWA (< 1024px): The footer is hidden to maintain an app-like experience. Instead, users can access the About screen from the mobile menu.

This design ensures that mobile users have a streamlined experience while still having access to important legal information.

Setting Up Your Footer Links

To configure your footer and About screen, follow these steps:

  1. Create Legal Pages: Before adding links, you need to create your legal pages (e.g., Privacy Policy, Terms of Service) using the Page Builder. These pages must be published and have slugs like privacy-policy or terms.

  2. Add Links:

    • Click Add Link in the Footer & About settings.

    • Choose Internal Page to link to your created pages or External for outside URLs.

    • Provide a short label for each link.

  3. Reorder Links: Use the up/down arrows to arrange your links in the desired order. You can add a maximum of 20 links.

  4. Edit or Delete Links: Use the row actions to modify or remove any links as needed.

  5. Copyright Text: The copyright line is auto-filled with the current year and your app name on the first launch. You can edit this text if necessary.

  6. Mobile Menu Settings: If you prefer not to show the About entry in the mobile menu, toggle the Show About screen option off. This will also make the /about URL return a Page Not Found error.

Tip: Always ensure your legal pages are properly linked and accessible to maintain compliance and provide transparency to your members.

Customizing the About Screen

The About screen is a dedicated space for your app's information, accessible from the mobile menu. You can customize the following:

  • Screen Title: Set a custom title for the About screen. If left blank, it will default to "About."

  • Menu Label: Customize the label that appears in the mobile menu for the About entry. If this is also left blank, it will default to "About."

When the About screen is enabled, it will appear at the bottom of the mobile menu, allowing users to access it easily.
