Understanding the Footer and About Screen
The Footer and About screen serve two distinct purposes depending on the device being used:
Desktop Experience
On larger screens (1024px and above), a traditional footer appears at the bottom of every page. This footer includes:
Links to your legal pages (Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, etc.)
A copyright line that is auto-filled with the current year and your app name.
Mobile and PWA Experience
For mobile users and those using the Progressive Web App (PWA), the footer is hidden to maintain an app-like experience. Instead, the information is accessible through a dedicated About screen, which can be reached from the bottom of the mobile menu. This design choice ensures that users do not encounter a cluttered interface.
Setting Up Your Footer and About Screen
Step 1: Create Legal Pages
Before adding links to your footer, you need to create the necessary legal pages. Use the Page Builder to create pages such as your Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. For guidance on this process, refer to Using the Page Builder.
Step 2: Add Links
In the Footer & About settings, click Add Link.
Choose Internal Page to link to one of your created pages or External for an outside URL.
Enter a short label for the link.
Step 3: Reorder Links
You can reorder your links using the up/down arrows. Remember, you can have a maximum of 20 links.
Step 4: Edit or Delete Links
You can easily edit or delete any link using the row actions provided in the settings.
Step 5: Edit Copyright Text
The copyright text is auto-filled, but you can edit it if necessary. This text will display beneath your links in the footer.
Step 6: Manage Mobile About Screen Visibility
If you prefer not to have the About entry visible in the mobile menu, toggle the Show About screen in mobile menu option off. Keep in mind that this will also make the /about URL return a Page Not Found error.
Tip: Always ensure your legal pages are published before linking them in the footer to avoid broken links.
