Cooking mode gives users a simple interface to use while actually preparing the recipe, by allowing them to step through each individual step of instructions one at a time, along with an optional image for each step.
Best practice
The best use of cooking mode involves the use of inline ingredients, along with step by step images. When editing your recipe, if you use the inline ingredients, the user will not have to toggle between the step by step instructions and the ingredient list, as everything is included within the instructions themselves.
Enable Cooking mode
App station > Settings > Recipes
Simply toggle this permission to allow all recipes to have cooking mode.
Adding images
Once cooking mode is enabled, you will have the option of adding an image to your step by step instructions.
Click to select your image.
The image is connected with that step, so if the step is moved to another location, the image goes with it.
Cooking mode in action
With cooking mode enabled, a new button will be presented to users when viewing a recipe. This "Start Cooking" button moves the user into Cooking mode.
And users can then swipe, tap or click through each step.
Tapping "Show ingredients" will present the entire list of ingredients.
