  3. Use the search bar to enter keywords or ingredients.

  4. Apply filters for nutrition, tags, or cooking time as needed.

  5. Review the search results and adjust filters to refine your search.

How Recipe Search Works

The recipe search feature allows your members to find recipes quickly and efficiently using various filters. Here’s how it works:

Searchable Fields

Members can search for recipes based on:

  • Ingredients: Members can include or exclude specific ingredients in their search.

  • Tags: Tags help categorize recipes, making it easier for members to find what they’re looking for.

  • Nutritional Values: Members can filter recipes based on nutritional content such as calories, protein, carbs, and more.

  • Difficulty and Time: Members can specify the difficulty level and cooking or prep time.

Fuzzy Matching

The search system employs fuzzy matching for ingredient names, which means that even if a member misspells an ingredient or uses a different variation, the system can still find relevant recipes. This includes:

  • Substring matching (e.g., "chick" matches "chicken")

  • Similarity scoring to account for typos

Tag Autocomplete

As members type in the search bar, they will see tag suggestions based on what they are entering. This feature allows for quick selection of relevant tags to refine their search results.

Influencing Search Results

As an admin, you have several ways to influence how recipes are discovered by your members:

Using Tags

Tags are essential for organizing recipes. By assigning relevant tags to your recipes, you can help members find content that matches their interests. Encourage the use of specific tags that reflect the recipe's characteristics, such as "vegan," "quick meals," or "low-carb."

Creating Collections

Collections allow you to group related recipes together. This can be particularly useful for themed content, such as "Summer BBQ Recipes" or "Healthy Breakfasts." Members can browse these collections to discover new recipes that fit their needs.

Setting Up Filter Presets

You can create customizable filter presets that allow members to apply specific filters quickly. This feature can streamline the search process, making it easier for members to find recipes that meet their dietary preferences or cooking constraints.

Content Access Considerations

It's important to note that the search results will automatically respect content access restrictions. This means:

  • Only published recipes will appear in search results.

  • Members will only see recipes they have access to based on their subscription level.

As an admin, you will always have access to all content, regardless of access levels.

By leveraging the recipe search and discovery features effectively, you can significantly enhance your members' experience and engagement with your app.
