Understanding Recipe Search

The recipe search feature allows your members to find recipes efficiently using various filters and search options. Members can search by ingredients, nutritional values, and tags, making it easier for them to discover recipes that suit their needs.

Searchable Fields

Members can search for recipes using the following fields:

  • Recipe Title: Search for specific recipe names.

  • Ingredients: Filter recipes based on included or excluded ingredients.

  • Tags: Use tags to narrow down results based on dietary preferences or meal types.

  • Nutritional Values: Filter recipes by calories, fat, carbs, protein, and more.

Fuzzy Matching

The search system uses fuzzy matching to help members find recipes even if they make typos or use variations of ingredient names. For example, searching for "chick" will return results for "chicken."

Influencing Search Results

As an admin, you can influence how recipes are discovered by your members through the use of tags, collections, and filter presets.

Using Tags

Tags are essential for organizing recipes and improving searchability. You can create tags that reflect dietary preferences (like "vegan" or "gluten-free") or meal types (like "breakfast" or "snack").

  • Tag Autocomplete: Members can easily find and select tags while searching, thanks to the autocomplete feature.

To learn more about setting up tags, check out our article on Using Tags.

Collections

Collections allow you to group related recipes together, making it easier for members to browse through similar content. You can create collections based on themes, such as "Quick Meals" or "Healthy Snacks."

For more details on managing collections, see our guide on Using Collections.

Filter Presets

You can customize filter presets to help members quickly apply their preferred search criteria. This feature allows you to set up commonly used filters, such as dietary restrictions or specific meal types, which members can select with a single click.

To set up filter presets, refer to our article on Customizing Recipe Filters.

Content Access and Visibility

It's important to note that all search results automatically respect content access restrictions. This means that only published recipes that members have permission to view will appear in their search results.

  • Admin Access: As an admin, you will always have access to all content, regardless of access level settings.

By leveraging these features, you can enhance the recipe search experience for your members, making it easier for them to find and enjoy the content you create.
