Why: Understanding how daily nutrition summaries work in meal plans helps you provide accurate dietary information to your subscribers, enhancing their experience and supporting their health goals.

Navigate: App Station > Content Library > Meal Plans > [Meal Plan]

Quick Start

  1. Open the Meal Plans section in the App Station.

  2. Select a meal plan to edit.

  3. Navigate to the Layout tab.

  4. Enable the "Show Daily Nutrition Summary" toggle.

  5. Select the nutrients you want to display (1-6 options).

Daily Nutrition Summary

The daily nutrition summary provides an aggregate of nutrients for each day in your meal plan. By default, it displays the following nutrients:

  • Calories

  • Protein (grams)

  • Carbs (grams)

  • Fat (grams)

You can customize the displayed nutrients to include any combination of 1-6 nutrients from a broader list, including fiber, sugar, sodium, and various vitamins.

How It Works

  • The summary updates automatically when recipes are added or removed from a day or when recipe nutrition data is updated.

  • The nutrition values shown are based on per-serving calculations from each recipe.

Yield-Based Recipes

For yield-based recipes, nutrition is calculated proportionally based on the yield amount. For example, if a recipe yields 500g and you use 250g, the nutrition values will reflect half of the total nutrition.

Important Exclusions

Meals in the Prep row and Advance Prep area are excluded from daily nutrition summaries. This is because these meals are prepared but not consumed during those sessions. Nutrition is counted only on the days when portions are actually eaten. However, ingredients from these meals will still appear in shopping lists.

Component Recipes

When a recipe includes component recipes (like a dressing used in a salad), the nutrition from these components is automatically included in the total nutrition calculation.

Calculation Process

  1. The system fetches nutrition data for both the main recipe and its components.

  2. It calculates the ratio of the component used based on the amount and the total yield.

  3. The nutrition from the component is scaled by this ratio and added to the parent recipe's nutrition totals.

Serving Modes

You can toggle between Per Serving and Daily Total modes in the daily summary.

  • Per Serving: Displays the sum of per-serving values across all recipes.

  • Daily Total: Multiplies each recipe's per-serving nutrition by the number of servings being prepared or consumed that day.

Shopping Lists

Shopping lists will include ingredients from all meals, including those in the Prep row and Advance Prep area, ensuring your members have everything they need for their meal plans.
