Why: If you create recipes with a Thermomix, bread machine, Instant Pot, or any appliance that produces a measured output, this guide shows you how to set up your app to match your workflow perfectly.

Quick Start

  1. Open the Recipe Editor in App Station.

  2. Select Output Type and switch to Yield.

  3. Enter the total output amount (e.g., 500) and unit (e.g., g).

  4. Add your recipe details (e.g., Thermomix soup makes 2L).

  5. Save your recipe.

Setting Up Your First Yield Recipe

Creating a yield recipe is straightforward. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Recipe Editor from the Content Library.

  2. In the Output Type section, select Yield.

  3. Enter the total output amount and choose the unit of measurement. For example:

    • Thermomix soup: 2L

    • Bread machine loaf: 750g

    • Instant Pot broth: 6 cups

    • Food processor dip: 400g

  4. Fill in the rest of your recipe details and save.

This setup allows your members to see exactly how much the recipe produces, making it easier for them to plan their meals.

Importing Existing Recipes

If you have existing recipes in spreadsheets or documents, you can easily import them. Here’s how:

  1. Use the import template provided in the app.

  2. In the Serving Mode column, mark your recipes as Yield.

  3. Include the yield amount and unit in the respective columns.

  4. The system will automatically detect yield recipes if the yield data is present without servings.

This feature helps you transition your existing content into the new yield format seamlessly.

Nutrition for Yield Recipes

Nutrition is calculated based on the yield amount. For example, if your hummus recipe yields 500g and contains 1500 calories, the platform will display 3 calories per gram. This makes it easy for your members to calculate their portions.

You can also override nutrition values in the same way. Just enter the values per unit of yield, and the system will handle the rest.

Adding Yield Recipes to Meal Plans

When adding a yield recipe to a meal plan, you can specify how much of the yield to use. For example, if your hummus recipe yields 500g, you can specify that you want to use 100g for lunch. The system will automatically calculate the nutrition and adjust the shopping list quantities based on this amount.

Batch Cooking with Yield

Many appliance users enjoy batch cooking. You can set up a prep session with the full yield (e.g., batch 500g of hummus on Sunday) and then portion it across multiple meals (e.g., 100g on Monday, 150g on Tuesday). The shopping list will only count ingredients once for the full batch, making it efficient for your members.

What Your Members See

When your members view yield recipes, the recipe cards will display something like "Makes 500g" instead of servings. If scaling is enabled, members can adjust the yield amount, and the ingredients will scale automatically. Cooking mode will also work naturally with yield, and PDFs will display the yield amount clearly.

Tips for Appliance Creators

  • Use grams for consistency across your recipes.

  • Match the yield to what your appliance actually produces to avoid confusion.

  • Use component recipes for sauces and bases that go into larger dishes.

  • Consider disabling scaling if your appliance has a fixed capacity to ensure accurate measurements.

This guide should help you effectively create and manage yield-based recipes tailored to your appliance-based workflow, enhancing the experience for both you and your members.
