  5. Save your changes.

Overview

The member-created recipes feature enables your members to craft their own recipes using a user-friendly, mobile-first editor. These recipes are private to the member and cannot be shared publicly, ensuring a personal touch to their cooking experience.

Key Differences from Admin Recipes

Here’s how member-created recipes differ from those created by admins:

  • Visibility: Admin recipes are visible to all members with access, while member-created recipes are only visible to the creator.

  • Media: Admin recipes can include images, videos, and embeds, whereas member-created recipes support a single image only.

  • Publishing: Admin recipes can be saved as drafts or scheduled, but member-created recipes are always published upon creation.

  • Location: Admin recipes are found in the Content Library, while member-created recipes are located in the "My Stuff" section.

  • Nutrition: Admins can edit nutrition values, but members see calculated nutrition as read-only.

Enabling Member-Created Recipes

To allow your members to create their own recipes, you need to enable the feature in your app settings and ensure that the appropriate access levels are configured.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Enable the Feature:

    • Go to App Station > Settings > Features.

    • Toggle on the Member-Created Recipes option.

  2. Set Access Levels:

    • Navigate to App Station > Access Levels.

    • Edit the access level you want to modify.

    • Ensure the canCreateRecipes option is enabled for that access level. By default, this is set to false, so you need to opt-in.

Tip: Remember that admins always have access to all features, regardless of access level settings.

Member Recipe Creation Process

Once you have enabled the feature, your members can create their own recipes through the "My Stuff" section of the app. Here’s how they can do it:

  1. Members click the New Recipe option in the My Stuff section.

  2. They will be taken to a simplified editor where they can add a title, notes, a single image, ingredients, and instructions.

  3. Nutrition information is automatically calculated based on the ingredients they select.

Important Notes

  • Member-created recipes are private and can only be viewed by the member who created them.

  • Members cannot add component recipes or edit nutrition values directly.

  • Custom ingredients added by members may trigger a warning if they lack nutrition data.

Content Visibility

Member-created recipes can appear in search results and block lists, but only for the member who created them. You can control this visibility through the block configuration settings.

Block Configuration

  • The includeMemberRecipes option determines whether member-created recipes are displayed alongside admin recipes. By default, this is set to true for logged-in members.

Visual Indicators

When member-created recipes are displayed, they feature a "Mine" badge, indicating ownership. This helps members easily identify their own content.
