Understanding Recipe Nutrition

The recipe nutrition system allows you to manage how nutrition data is calculated and displayed in your app. There are two main modes:

  1. Ingredient-based calculation: Nutrition values are automatically calculated based on the ingredients in your recipe.

  2. Recipe-level override: You can manually enter custom nutrition values for each recipe.

Recipe-Level Nutrition Override

If you want to provide specific nutrition information for a recipe, you can override the automatically calculated values. Here’s how:

  1. Open the recipe in the Content Library.

  2. Go to the Details tab and find the Nutrition Information section.

  3. Toggle the "Use recipe-level nutrition" switch to enable the override mode.

  4. Once enabled, you’ll see fields for various nutrients where you can enter your custom values.

  5. The system will pre-fill these fields with the automatically calculated values from the ingredients as a starting point.

When you save these changes, the ingredient-level nutrition data will be ignored for that recipe, and only your custom values will be displayed to members.

Configuring Nutrition Display Settings

You can control which nutrients are visible to your members by adjusting the nutrition display settings. This customization can help you tailor the information to your audience's needs.

  1. Navigate to App Station > Module Settings > Ingredients > Nutrition Display Settings.

  2. Here, you can toggle the visibility of each nutrient on or off.

  3. If no settings are configured, all nutrients will be displayed by default. When settings are configured, only the nutrients you’ve enabled will be shown.

Available Nutrients include:

  • Macros: calories, protein, carbs, fat

  • Common: fiber, sugar, sodium, cholesterol, moisture

  • Minerals: calcium, iron, potassium

  • Vitamins: vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12

Viewing Nutrition on Public Pages

Once you have set up your nutrition display settings, the nutrition information will automatically be shown on recipe detail pages. Only the nutrients you have enabled will be visible to your members. If no settings are configured, all nutrients will be displayed.
