Understanding Content Grants

Content grants allow you to give specific members direct access to content, bypassing the standard access level system. This feature is particularly useful in scenarios where you want to provide tailored content for certain members, such as coaching clients or VIP customers.

Use Cases for Content Grants

  1. Coaching Clients: Assign exclusive content to clients participating in a coaching program. This ensures that only those clients can view the material, keeping it private from other members.

  2. VIP Content Access: Offer special promotions or exclusive content to select members. You can set an expiration date for this access, making it a limited-time offer.

  3. Beta/Preview Access: Grant select users access to new content before it is released to the public. This is ideal for gathering feedback or testing new features.

Setting Up Content Grants

To set up content grants, follow these steps:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Access the Content Library: Navigate to the Content Library in App Station.

  2. Select Your Content: Click on the content item you wish to grant access to.

  3. Open the Access Tab: In the content editor, go to the Access tab.

  4. Assign Users: Use the search feature to find the member you want to grant access to. You can add multiple members if needed.

  5. Set Expiration and Notes: Optionally, you can set an expiration date for the access and add notes to track the reason for the grant.

  6. Save Changes: Click Grant Access to finalize the assignment.

Visibility Modes

When granting access, you can set the content visibility to "Assigned Only." This means:

  • The content will not appear in public listings.

  • Only users with direct content grants can view it.

  • This is ideal for scenarios where you want to keep content private and exclusive.

Managing Content Grants

Once you have granted access, you can manage these grants through the same Access tab. You can revoke access at any time if needed.

Grant Priority

It's important to note that content grants take priority over visibility modes. If a member has an active grant for a piece of content, they can access it regardless of:

  • The content's visibility mode

  • Their access level requirements

This ensures that your special assignments are honored, even if the content is set to be hidden from others.
