Understanding Content Visibility Modes

Member Kitchens offers three visibility modes for your content: Public, Members-only, and Assigned. Each mode serves a different purpose and can be used strategically to enhance your app's value.

1. Public Content: Your Shop Window

Public content is visible to everyone, including guests. This is your opportunity to attract new members by showcasing a selection of your best offerings.

  • Use Case: Share recipes or blog posts that highlight your expertise.

  • Tip: Limit the amount of public content to maintain exclusivity. You can set a maximum percentage of your content to be public (default is 10% of each content type).

2. Members-only Content: Gated Access

Members-only content requires specific access levels to view. This is where you can provide valuable resources that encourage users to subscribe.

  • Access Levels: Create different tiers (e.g., Basic, Premium) that grant access to various content types.

  • Teasers: When members don’t have access, they can see a teaser that encourages them to upgrade.

3. Assigned Content: Exclusive Access

Assigned content is only visible to users who have been directly granted access. This is perfect for personalized coaching or VIP content.

  • Use Case: Assign specific recipes or meal plans to individual clients or VIP members.

  • Note: This content is completely hidden from all public listings and is not accessible via access levels.

Setting Public Content Limits

To ensure you give a taste without giving everything away, you can set limits on public content.

  • Default Limit: 10% of each content type can be marked as public, with a minimum of 10 items allowed.

  • Dynamic Scaling: As your content library grows, so does the number of allowed public items.

Example of Limits

  • If you have 50 recipes, you can set 5 as public.

  • If you have 200 recipes, you can set 20 as public.

Members-only Content and Access Levels

Members-only content is gated by access levels.

  • Configuration: You can manage access levels in App Station > App Settings > Access Levels.

  • Visibility: Content can require any of multiple access levels, allowing flexibility in access control.

Teasers for Locked Content

When members encounter locked content, they will see a teaser that includes:

  • A brief preview of the content.

  • An upgrade prompt to encourage them to purchase the necessary access level.

Assigned Content for Exclusive or Private Content

Use assigned content for scenarios where you want to provide exclusive access to specific users.

  • Visibility: This content is completely hidden from all public listings.

  • Direct Assignments: You can manually assign content to users, making it perfect for personalized coaching or VIP access.

Content Grants for VIP Access

Content grants allow you to bypass standard access levels for specific users.

  • Use Cases: Ideal for coaching clients or VIP customers who need access to exclusive content.

  • Expiration: You can set expiration dates for grants, making it easy to manage access over time.

Recommended Strategy

  1. Start with Public Content: Attract new members by showcasing a selection of your best content.

  2. Create Tiered Access Levels: Offer different levels of membership to cater to various subscriber needs.

  3. Use Teasers: Encourage conversions by showing teasers for locked content, prompting members to upgrade.

By thoughtfully structuring your content access, you can maximize engagement and drive subscriptions effectively.
