Confirming Email Ownership
After clicking Create Sender, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. To complete the setup:
Check your email for the confirmation message.
Click the confirmation link within that email.
Once the link is clicked, the status will change from "Pending" to "Confirmed." If the email address belongs to someone else, make sure to coordinate with them to ensure they click the confirmation link.
Adding DNS Records
After confirming your email, you will need to add two DNS records to your domain settings:
DKIM Record (Required)
Type: TXT
Host:
20231001._domainkey.yourdomain.comValue:
v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3...
Return-Path Record (Required)
Type: CNAME
Host:
pm-bounces-mkValue:
pm.mtasv.net
Make sure to add these records to your domain's DNS settings to ensure proper email delivery.
Waiting for DNS Propagation
After adding the DNS records, it may take anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours for the changes to propagate. During this time, the status will show as "Pending," and emails will revert to the default sender address.
Verifying DNS Records
Once you believe the DNS changes have propagated, you can verify the status:
Click Check Verification Status in the Email settings.
You will need to see the following statuses for everything to be active:
Email Confirmed: β
DKIM Verified: β
Return-Path Verified: β
Status: VERIFIED
All three requirements must be met for the custom sender to become active.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
DNS Not Verifying: If your DNS records are not verifying, wait a bit longer and ensure the values were copied correctly without extra spaces.
Email Still Shows Default Sender: Make sure both DKIM and Return-Path are verified and that the sender status is "VERIFIED."
Can't Create Multiple Senders: You can only have one active sender signature. To change it, delete the existing sender and create a new one.
