Overview
The member-created recipes feature allows your members to create their own recipes using a simplified, mobile-friendly editor. These recipes are private to the member and cannot be shared publicly, ensuring a personal space for creativity.
Key Differences from Admin Recipes
Understanding the differences between admin recipes and member-created recipes is essential:
Visibility: Admin recipes are visible to all members with access, while member-created recipes are only visible to the creator.
Media: Admin recipes can include multiple media types, while member-created recipes can only have a single image.
Publishing: Admin recipes can be in draft, scheduled, or published states; member-created recipes are always published.
Location: Admin recipes are stored in the Content Library, while member-created recipes are found in the "My Stuff" page.
Ingredients: Admins can use a combination of library, custom, and component recipes; members can only use ingredients from the library.
Instructions: Admins can format instructions in rich text; members can only use rich text without formatting options.
Nutrition: Admins can edit nutrition values, while members see calculated nutrition as read-only.
Enabling Member-Created Recipes
To allow your members to create recipes, you need to enable the feature and adjust access levels:
Step 1: Enable the Feature
Go to App Station.
Click on Settings.
Select Explore More Features.
Enable the member-created content feature flag.
Step 2: Adjust Access Levels
Navigate to Access Levels in the Monetization section.
Select the access level you want to edit.
Toggle on canCreateRecipes to allow members with this access level to create their own recipes.
Tip: By default, the canCreateRecipes permission is set to false, so make sure to enable it for the desired access levels.
Member Recipe Creation Process
Once the feature is enabled, members can create their recipes through a user-friendly interface. Here’s how it works:
Members click the New Recipe button in the "My Stuff" section.
They are taken to a simplified editor where they can enter:
Title
Notes (optional)
A single image
Ingredients from the library
Instructions in rich text
Nutrition information is automatically calculated based on the ingredients used.
Important Notes
Member-created recipes are private and only visible to the member who created them.
Members cannot create new ingredients; they must use existing library ingredients.
Nutrition values are calculated automatically and cannot be edited by members.
Visibility and Access Control
Member-created recipes are designed to be private. They will not appear in admin-only contexts or be visible to other members. However, they can be included in search results and blocks if configured to do so.
Configuring Visibility
You can control whether member-created recipes appear in blocks and search results by adjusting the includeMemberRecipes setting in your block configurations.
Default: When set to true, logged-in members will see both tenant recipes and their own member recipes.
When false: All users will only see tenant recipes, excluding member-created content.
