Platform 2 Guide — This article applies to the new platform. Looking for classic platform docs? Browse the Platform 1 collection.

Why: Bites give you a fast way to put a snack, drink, or supplement on a meal plan without writing a full recipe. Your members can easily track these items alongside their meals, helping them stay within their calorie budgets.

Navigate: App Station > Content Library > Add Content > Bite

Quick Start

  1. Open App Station and navigate to Content Library.

  2. Click Add Content and choose Bite.

  3. Fill in the Title and add a Photo.

  4. Enter Calories and any other nutrition values you want to track.

  5. Set Tags and choose Visibility / Access Levels. Save your Bite.

What Are Bites?

Bites are lightweight content items designed for snacks, drinks, supplements, or anything with calories that members should be able to add to their meal plans or count toward their calorie budgets. They do not require a full recipe detail page, making them quick and easy to manage.

Bites appear alongside recipes in various places, such as the meal plan picker, member recipe library, search results, and content grids. Each Bite features a small neutral "Bite" label on member-facing cards, making them easy to distinguish from full recipes.

When to Use a Bite Instead of a Recipe

Use a Bite for items like:

  • A protein shake

  • A piece of fruit

  • An energy bar

  • A supplement

Opt for a full Recipe when you want to provide detailed information, including ingredients, steps, ratings, and comments.

Creating a Bite

To create a Bite, follow these steps:

  1. Open App Station and go to Content Library.

  2. Click Add Content and select Bite.

  3. Fill in the Title for your Bite.

  4. Add a Photo to visually represent the Bite.

  5. Enter the Calories and any other nutrition values you wish to track. You can leave any field blank, as empty fields will not be displayed.

  6. Set Tags to help organize your content.

  7. Choose the Visibility / Access Levels for your Bite.

  8. Click Save. Your Bite will be immediately available in the meal plan picker.

Nutrition for Bites

The Nutrition tab for Bites uses the same override editor as the Recipe Nutrition tab. You can fill in just calories, or include calories along with protein or other macros. Empty fields will be skipped on display.

Bite calories are counted in member calorie budgets and meal plan daily totals just like a recipe, ensuring that members can accurately track their intake.

Why Bites Have No Detail Page

Bites are intentionally designed to be lightweight. They do not have a public URL, cannot be exported as PDFs, and lack member ratings or comments. If a member or admin clicks a Bite card on a member-facing surface, nothing happens — the card is purely informational.

In the admin Content Library, clicking a Bite row takes you directly to the full Bite editor instead of opening a quick-view drawer.

Why Bites Still Appear in the Recipe Library

Bites are marked as meal-plan-only, but the platform allows them to appear alongside recipes in member-facing recipe libraries, search results, and content grids. However, Bites will not be included in the marketing recipe collage on public pages.

Tags, Media, Visibility, and Favorites

Bites support the same tags, media, visibility options (Public / Members / Assigned), access levels, and favoriting features as recipes. They also show up in bulk-edit selections in the Content Library, making it easy to manage them alongside your other content.

What Is Not in V1

Currently, the following features are not available for Bites:

  • Bulk-add flow

  • Sample content seeding

  • Public detail page

  • Ratings
