Overview of Layout Modes

Member Kitchens offers four distinct meal plan layout modes to help you organize and present your recipes effectively:

  1. Grid (Days and Sections): This layout displays a calendar-style grid with day columns and section rows. It’s perfect for showing a full week’s worth of meals at a glance.

  2. Days Only: In this mode, recipes are grouped by day without section labels. This is ideal for a straightforward view where members can see what they have planned for each day.

  3. Sections Only: This layout groups recipes by meal type (e.g., Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) without day columns. It’s useful for members who want to focus on meal types rather than specific days.

  4. Simple List: This mode presents all recipes in a flat sorted list. It’s a clean and simple way to display recipes without any grouping.

Switching Between Layout Modes

To switch between these layout modes, simply use the layout selector in the meal plan settings. The great news is that switching modes never loses your recipes. Each recipe remembers its original position, so you can switch from Grid to List and back without losing where each recipe was placed.

Visual Representation of Each Mode

  • Grid: Displays a matrix where each cell corresponds to a specific day and meal section. This provides a comprehensive view of the meal plan.

  • Days Only: Shows a vertical list of days with the corresponding recipes listed underneath each day. It simplifies the view by removing sections.

  • Sections Only: Lists meal types horizontally, with the recipes for each type displayed below. This is beneficial for members who want to see all breakfast options together, for example.

  • Simple List: All recipes are listed in a single column, sorted by your chosen criteria. This is the most straightforward presentation.

Important Note on Removing Days or Sections

Be aware that removing an individual day or section is different from switching modes. If you choose to remove a specific day or section, you will be prompted to delete the recipes contained within it. This action cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.

Meal Plan Templates

When creating a new meal plan, the starting layout comes from a named Meal Plan Template. Admins can curate one or more templates, each tagged for admins, members, or both. For more details on setting up templates, check out the Meal Plan Templates article.
