Understanding Tags

Tags are a powerful way to categorize and organize your content within your app. They can be applied to various content types, including recipes, meal plans, blog posts, and resources. By using tags, you can help your members easily find the content they're interested in.

Tag Types

Tags are categorized into different types to suit various content needs:

  • Dietary: For dietary restrictions or preferences (e.g., "Gluten Free", "Vegan").

  • Cuisine: For culinary traditions (e.g., "Italian", "Thai").

  • Meal Type: To categorize meals (e.g., "Breakfast", "Dinner").

  • Cooking Method: For different cooking techniques (e.g., "Grilled", "Baked").

  • Difficulty: To indicate skill levels (e.g., "Easy", "Advanced").

  • Topic: For blog posts and resources (e.g., "Nutrition", "Meal Prep").

  • Category: To group content types (e.g., "How-To", "Guide").

  • Audience: To target specific groups (e.g., "Beginners", "Athletes").

  • General: For uncategorized tags that can apply to any content type.

Creating and Managing Tags

To create a tag:

  1. Navigate to the Tags section in App Station.

  2. Click the Create Tag button.

  3. Fill in the Name and optional Short Name.

  4. Choose the appropriate Tag Type.

  5. Click Save to add the tag to your library.

You can also manage existing tags by editing or deleting them. Use the list view to see all your tags, their types, and usage statistics.

Applying Tags to Content

Once you've created tags, you can apply them to your content. When editing a recipe, meal plan, or blog post, simply select the relevant tags from the tag picker. This helps your members filter and search for content based on their interests.

Tag Ordering

You can control the order in which tags appear in your app. This is done through the Tags section in App Station, where you can drag and drop tags to reorder them. The order is important for how tags are displayed to your members, especially on content cards and detail pages.

How Tags Affect Search and Filtering

Tags play a significant role in how members search for and filter content. When members use the search function, tags help narrow down results to show only the most relevant items. Additionally, members can filter content by tag type, making it easier to find specific recipes or resources that meet their needs.
