Understanding Notifications

Notifications are a powerful way to communicate with your members. They can be used to inform them about new content, updates, and community activities. Here’s a breakdown of the different types of notifications available:

Types of Notifications

  1. In-App Notifications: These appear in the notification bell in the app header and inform users about relevant activities, such as comments on their posts or replies to topics they are following.

  2. Email Notifications: Members can receive updates via email for various events like new meal plans or blog posts.

  3. Push Notifications: If enabled, these notifications can be sent directly to members' devices, keeping them informed even when they are not actively using the app.

Managing Notification Settings

As an admin, you can control which notification channels are available for each event type. This is done in the Notifications tab under Engagement & Community. Here’s how to manage these settings:

  1. Enable/Disable Channels: For each event type, you can toggle email and push notifications on or off. This allows you to customize how your members receive updates.

    Supported event types include:

    • MEAL_PLAN_PUBLISHED: Notify members when a new meal plan is published.

    • BLOG_POST_PUBLISHED: Notify members when a new blog post is published.

    • FORUM_NEW_TOPIC: Notify members when a new topic is posted in a subscribed category.

    • FORUM_TOPIC_ACTIVITY: Notify members when someone replies to a topic they participated in.

Note: Push notifications require the app to be enabled as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and configured correctly.

Customizing Email Templates

You can also customize the email templates used for notifications. This is done in the Email section under Templates in the App Station. Each template can be tailored with:

  • Subject Line: The title of the email notification.

  • Email Body: Rich HTML content that provides details about the notification.

  • Button Label: Custom text for the call-to-action button within the email.

  • Push Notification Body: A short message that appears with the push notification.

Member Notification Preferences

Members can manage their own notification preferences from their profile. They can choose which types of notifications they want to receive and how (email or push). This empowers them to tailor their experience according to their preferences.
