Understanding Notifications
Notifications in your app serve as a vital communication tool to keep your members updated on important events. They can take various forms, including banners, announcements, and in-app notifications.
Types of Notifications
Banners: These are short messages that appear at the top of the app. They are useful for important notices, promotions, or general information.
Announcements: Rich messages that can include media and allow members to react. These are ideal for significant updates or welcome messages.
In-App Notifications: Notifications that appear in the notification bell, alerting users to relevant activities such as replies to comments or new content.
Configuring Notifications
Banners
Banners are a great way to display important information at the top of your app. Here’s how to manage them:
Create a Banner: In the Banners tab under Announcements, you can create a new banner by entering a message, selecting a variant (info, warning, promo, maintenance), and setting its display mode (show once or every session).
Edit Existing Banners: You can modify the message, variant, or display settings of existing banners.
Dismissal: Members can dismiss banners, and you can choose whether they should reappear in future sessions or not.
Announcements
Announcements allow for richer content and engagement:
Create an Announcement: You can send announcements that include images, videos, and links to other content. This is done through the Announcements page in App Station.
Target Audience: You can specify who sees the announcement (all users, members only, or guests).
Reactions: Members can react to announcements, making them more interactive.
In-App Notifications
In-app notifications keep members informed about activities relevant to them:
Types of Notifications: These can include updates on comments, forum activity, and more.
Management: You can control which types of in-app notifications are sent to members based on their preferences.
Notification Channel Settings
You can control which notification channels (email, push) are available for each event type:
Go to App Station > Module Settings > Engagement > Notifications.
Enable or disable channels for events like meal plan publications, blog posts, and forum activities.
Push Notifications
If you want to send push notifications, ensure that:
PWA is enabled: This allows your app to be installed on devices.
Push notifications are enabled: This must be set in your app's configuration.
Member preferences: Members can manage their push notification settings from their profile.
