Why: Ensure your existing members stay engaged by opting them into forum notifications. This one-time setup allows them to receive updates on new topics, enhancing their community experience.

Navigate: App Station > Features > Community > Opt in existing members

Quick Start

  1. Go to Opt in existing members in App Station.

  2. Review the number of eligible members displayed.

  3. Select your desired Email Cadence (Weekly digest is recommended).

  4. Choose your Push Notification setting (Never or Immediate).

  5. Click Opt In to apply the settings.

Understanding the Opt-In Process

The opt-in tool is designed for kitchens that had members before the auto-follow feature was introduced. Here’s how it works:

  • Eligibility: The tool only affects members who have never chosen which categories to follow. It skips anyone who has already selected their settings or opted out completely.

  • Email Cadence: You can choose how often members receive email notifications about new topics. The options are:

    • Immediate: Members receive an email as soon as a new topic is posted.

    • Daily Digest: Members receive a summary of new topics once a day.

    • Weekly Digest: Members receive a summary of new topics once a week (recommended).

    • Off: Members will not receive email notifications.

  • Push Notifications: You can also set the push notification preference to either:

    • Never: Members will not receive push notifications.

    • Immediate: Members will receive push notifications as soon as a new topic is posted.

Important Notes

  • The mass opt-in tool only writes follow settings for categories that members can already see. No notifications will be sent until the next new topic is created.

  • The settings you apply will not affect existing notifications or change any master notification switches. If your tenant has disabled forum notifications under Interactions > Notifications, opted-in members will still not receive emails.

  • This tool does not send any immediate notifications or emails upon application; it only sets the preferences for future notifications.

Future Notifications for New Members

Going forward, new members will automatically follow categories they can access. When you create a new category, existing members who can see it will also be auto-followed, ensuring they stay updated on relevant discussions.

Managing Notification Settings

You can manage the overall notification settings for your forum in the App Station:

  • Navigate to Community > Settings to adjust defaults for new members, including:

    • Email Cadence

    • Push Notification Settings

    • Topic Replies

These settings will apply to new members and can help streamline their experience in your community.
