Understanding Preview Mode

Preview Mode is a powerful tool that lets you temporarily view your app as a member or guest without logging out of your admin account. This feature is essential for verifying that your content and access levels are functioning as intended.

How Preview Mode Works

When you enter Preview Mode, your admin session is switched to a preview user session. This allows you to experience the app as a member would, ensuring that all content restrictions are applied correctly.

  • Preview Users: These are system-generated users that represent different access levels. They cannot be logged into directly and are created automatically when access levels are set up.

  • Session Switching: Your current session is temporarily replaced with that of a preview user.

  • Automatic Expiry: Preview Mode will expire after 15 minutes or if you navigate to any App Station route.

Features of Preview Mode

  • Preview Type Selection: You can choose to preview as a guest or as a member with a specific access level.

  • Countdown Timer: A timer at the bottom of the screen shows how much time is left in your preview session.

  • Quick Toggle: Easily switch between different access levels while in preview mode.

  • Exit Button: Quickly exit preview mode and return to your admin session.

Using Preview Mode

Starting a Preview Session

Navigating in Preview Mode

Once in preview mode, you can browse your app as a member would. This includes checking content visibility based on the selected access level.

  • Access Level Verification: Ensure that all content restrictions are applied correctly based on the access level you selected.

  • Content Interaction: You can interact with the content as if you were a member, but remember that any changes you try to make will be blocked.

Exiting Preview Mode

To exit preview mode and return to your admin session, simply click the Exit button in the preview banner. This will restore your admin session.

Important Notes

  • Session Duration: Remember that your preview session will automatically expire after 15 minutes.

  • No Mutations Allowed: While in preview mode, you cannot make any changes to the app. This is to ensure that the preview experience is accurate and secure.

Tip: Use Preview Mode regularly to ensure that your content is always accessible and correctly restricted for your members.
