Member Signup Flow

The member signup process is designed to be simple and efficient. When a new member decides to join, they can do so through various entry points, such as your app's upgrade page or a direct checkout link.

  1. Checkout Links: You can create shareable checkout links for your offers. These links can be used in marketing campaigns or shared directly with potential members.

  2. Automatic Account Creation: Members can sign up and create their accounts during the checkout process, making it easy for them to get started without additional steps.

Customizing the Signup Experience

In the Checkout Settings, you can customize several aspects of the member signup and checkout experience:

1. Checkout Behavior

  • Automatic Tax Calculation: Enable this feature to automatically calculate taxes during checkout. Ensure that your Stripe account has tax settings configured.

  • Terms & Privacy Consent: Require members to accept your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before completing their purchase. Make sure to set the URLs in your Stripe Dashboard.

  • Free Trial Without Credit Card: Allow members to start a free trial without entering credit card information. This can encourage more signups, but be aware that returning members who previously canceled will need to provide payment information.

2. Cancellation Reasons

You can configure the cancellation reasons that members see when they cancel their subscriptions through the Stripe Customer Portal. This feedback can be invaluable for improving your offerings.

  • Collect a Cancellation Reason: Toggle this setting to enable or disable the prompt for cancellation reasons.

  • Per-Reason Checkboxes: Select which reasons you want to offer. By default, all reasons are available unless you specify otherwise.

External URLs

If you have members who are billed outside of Stripe, you can set external URLs for managing subscriptions. This allows members to easily access their subscription management options without confusion.

  • External Upgrade URL: Provide a link for members to upgrade their subscriptions.

  • External Manage Subscription URL: Direct members to a page where they can manage their subscriptions if they are not using Stripe for billing.

Password Setup for New Users

When a new member completes their signup, they will be directed to a success page where they can set their password. This allows them to log in easily in the future without needing to rely on email magic links.

Best Practices

  • Test Your Checkout Flow: Before launching, test the entire signup and checkout process to ensure everything works smoothly.

  • Monitor Cancellation Reasons: Regularly review the cancellation reasons collected to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Promote Your Offers: Use checkout links in your marketing materials to drive traffic and increase signups.
