Understanding the Monetization Process

As an app administrator, your goal is to create engaging content for your members while generating revenue. Here’s how you can achieve this:

  1. Create Content: Start by developing high-quality content such as recipes, meal plans, or courses that your audience will love.

  2. Control Access: Use access levels to determine who can view your content. This allows you to restrict certain content to paying members only.

  3. Sell Access: Create offers that allow members to purchase access to your content. This can be through subscriptions, one-time purchases, or free trials.

1. Setting Up Access Levels

Access levels are essential for controlling what content your members can see. You can create different levels based on your content strategy, such as free, premium, or VIP access.

  • Navigate to Access Levels.

  • Click Add Access Level and define the name and permissions.

  • Use the grantsAllContent option to allow certain levels to bypass restrictions.

Tip: Consider creating parallel access levels for different dietary preferences (e.g., "Vegetarian", "Keto") to cater to specific audiences.

2. Creating Offers

Once you have your access levels set up, you can create offers that members can purchase to gain access to your content.

  • Go to Offers.

  • Choose between subscription offers (recurring payments) or one-time offers (lifetime access).

  • Set pricing and select the access levels that each offer grants.

Note: Each offer can have multiple price points and billing intervals, allowing flexibility for your members.

3. Connecting Stripe for Payments

To process payments, you need to connect your Stripe account.

  • Navigate to Checkout Settings.

  • Follow the prompts to set up your Stripe account, ensuring you can accept payments in your preferred currencies.

Tip: Ensure your Stripe account is fully configured to avoid payment issues when members attempt to purchase offers.

4. Using Promo Codes for Promotions

Promo codes can help you attract new members or reward existing ones.

  • Go to Promo Codes.

  • Create a new promo code, specifying the discount type (percentage or fixed amount) and duration.

  • Share these codes with your audience to encourage sign-ups or purchases.

5. Gift Subscriptions for Word-of-Mouth Growth

Gift subscriptions allow your members to purchase access for others, expanding your reach.

  • Set up gift subscriptions in your app settings.

  • Members can buy offers for friends, providing them with a trial period.

  • Recipients will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to get started.

6. Referral Programs for Organic Growth

Implement a referral program to incentivize your existing members to bring in new users.

  • Enable the referral system in your app settings.

  • Members can share their unique referral codes, earning points for each new sign-up.

  • Configure rewards for both the referrer and the new member to encourage participation.

7. Content Grants for Special Access

Use content grants to provide specific members with direct access to certain content without requiring a subscription.

  • Manually assign content grants to VIP members or collaborators.

  • This allows you to offer exclusive content while maintaining control over access levels.

Structuring a Freemium Model

A freemium model can be an effective strategy to grow your user base while generating revenue. Here’s how to structure it:

  • Public Content: Offer a selection of free content that anyone can access to attract users.

  • Tiered Access Levels: Create multiple access levels that provide varying degrees of content access. For example, basic, premium, and VIP tiers.

  • Engagement Strategies: Use email marketing and in-app notifications to encourage free users to upgrade to paid access for exclusive content.

By following these steps and utilizing the features available in your app, you can create a sustainable revenue model that benefits both you and your members. For more details on specific features, explore our help articles on access levels, offers, and promo codes.
