Understanding Calorie Budget Tracking
Calorie budget tracking is a feature designed to help your members manage their calorie intake effectively. Here’s how it works:
1. Tier Requirement
Calorie budget tracking is available only for apps on the Launch and Growth tiers. If your app is on the Discover tier, this feature will not be accessible.
2. Enabling Calorie Budget Tracking
To allow your members to use calorie budget tracking, you must enable it for each access level. By default, this feature is turned off, so you have control over who can use it.
Navigate to the Access Levels section in App Station.
Select the desired access level.
Toggle on Track calorie budget to enable it for that access level.
3. Member Visibility
Members will see their calorie budget tracking at the top of any meal plan they can edit. Additionally, there will be a small inline indicator when they are adding recipes, showing how many calories they have left for the week.
4. Setting Daily Targets
Members can set their daily calorie target within their meal plans. The weekly remaining calories are calculated using the formula:
Weekly Remaining = (Daily Target × Number of Days in Plan) - Total Calories Consumed
This calculation takes into account all meals and leftover sessions in the plan.
5. Exclusion of PREP Sessions
It's important to note that PREP sessions are excluded from the calorie budget calculations. This ensures that prepped ingredients are not double-counted when members consume meals that include those ingredients.
6. Handling Missing Nutrition Data
If a recipe lacks nutrition data, it will be silently excluded from the calorie budget calculation. Members will see a small note in the UI indicating that some recipes have no nutrition data and are not counted.
7. Meal Plan-Specific Targets
In version 1 of this feature, the daily calorie target is stored on the meal plan itself, not on the member's profile. This means each meal plan can have its own target, and members will need to re-enter their target when creating a new plan. The design is intentionally simple, displaying just one number: "X calories remaining this week." There is currently no breakdown by meal type or per-day overrides.
