Understanding Public Content Limits
The public content limit system helps you manage how much content can be marked as public. This is important for maintaining the value of your subscription service and preventing abuse by ensuring that not all content is freely accessible.
Default Configuration
Default limit: You can set up to 10% of each content type as public.
Minimum floor: Regardless of the percentage, you can always have at least 10 public items per content type.
Dynamic limit: As your content library grows, the number of allowed public items increases.
Disabled option: You can set the limit to 0% if you want to disable public content limits entirely.
How the Limit Scales
The public content limit grows with your library. Here’s how it works:
If you have 5 published recipes, you can have 10 public items (minimum floor).
With 50 recipes, you still have a limit of 10 public items.
At 100 recipes, your limit increases to 10.
At 200 recipes, your limit is 20.
At 500 recipes, you can have up to 50 public items.
This means that as you add more content, you can make more items public, helping you attract new members.
Content Types Affected
The following content types are subject to public content limits:
Recipe
Meal Plan
Challenge
Resource
However, blog posts can be 100% public, allowing you to share freely without restrictions.
What Counts as Public Content
Content is considered public when:
The visibility is set to PUBLIC.
The publish date is in the past (meaning it has been published).
Draft content does not count towards your public limit.
Managing Your Public Content
If you delete content and exceed your configured limit, the following will happen:
Existing public content will not automatically change to private.
You will receive an email notification if you go over the limit.
You cannot add more public content until you are back under the limit.
Tips for Managing Public Content
Regularly review your public content limits in the Content Access section of the App Station to ensure they align with your growth.
Consider using public content strategically to attract new members while keeping your core offerings exclusive.
Monitor your public content usage to avoid hitting limits unexpectedly.
