Quick Start

  1. Go to the Content Library in App Station.

  2. Select a content item and click Edit.

  3. Set the Visibility to Public, Members Only, or Assigned based on your strategy.

  4. Configure Access Levels for members-only content in the Monetization section.

  5. Use Content Grants for exclusive access to specific users.

Understanding Content Visibility Modes

Member Kitchens provides three visibility modes for your content: Public, Members-only, and Assigned. Each mode serves a different purpose and can be strategically used to enhance your app's value.

1. Public Content: Your Shop Window

Public content is your app's storefront. It allows anyone, including guests, to view specific items without needing to sign up. This is essential for attracting new members.

  • When to Use: Use public content to showcase your best recipes, blog posts, or resources. This can entice potential subscribers to explore more.

  • Tip: Limit the amount of public content to maintain exclusivity. You can set a maximum percentage of your content to be public (default is 10% of each content type).

2. Members-only Content: Gated Access

Members-only content is accessible only to users with the appropriate access levels. This is where you can provide premium value to your subscribers.

  • Access Levels: Control who sees what by setting up different access levels. For example, you might have a "Premium" level that unlocks exclusive recipes or meal plans.

  • Teasers: For content that members cannot access, you can show teasers. This gives them a glimpse of what they’re missing and encourages upgrades.

3. Assigned Content: Exclusive Access

Assigned content is completely hidden from public listings and is only visible to users who have been directly granted access. This is ideal for personalized coaching or exclusive content for VIP members.

  • When to Use: Use assigned content for coaching programs or special promotions where only select users should have access.

  • Content Grants: You can manually assign content to specific users, bypassing the standard access level system.

Setting Public Content Limits

To ensure you give a taste without giving everything away, you can set limits on how much content can be public. This prevents abuse and maintains the value of your subscription offerings.

  • Default Limit: By default, you can have 10% of each content type as public, with a minimum of 10 items allowed.

  • Dynamic Scaling: As your content library grows, so does the number of allowed public items.

Members-only Content and Access Levels

When you create members-only content, you can specify which access levels are required for viewing. This allows you to tailor your offerings based on your audience's needs.

  • Access Level Configuration: Go to Access Levels in App Station to create and manage access levels.

  • Visibility Control: Ensure that content is marked as members-only in the content editor's publishing tab.

Teasers for Locked Content

When members encounter locked content, they can see a teaser that provides a preview. This includes:

  • A partial view of the content.

  • A call-to-action for guests to sign up or log in.

  • Upgrade options for members who need a higher access level.

This strategy can help convert free users into paying subscribers.

Assigned Content for Exclusive Access

Assigned content is perfect for scenarios where you want to provide personalized access. This could be for coaching clients or VIP members.

  • Visibility Control: When content is set to "Assigned Only," it is hidden from all public listings, ensuring that only those with a direct grant can view it.

  • Content Grant System: Use the Content Grant System to manage these assignments effectively.

Content Grants for VIP Access

Content grants allow you to provide special access to specific users without altering the general access level settings. This is useful for:

  • Coaching Clients: Assign specific content to clients for personalized experiences.

  • Promotions: Grant temporary access to exclusive content for special events or promotions.

Recommended Strategy

To maximize your content's effectiveness, consider the following strategy:

  1. Start with Public Content: Attract new members by showcasing a selection of your best content.

  2. Create Tiered Access Levels: Develop different access levels to offer varied content experiences.

  3. Use Teasers: Implement teasers for locked content to encourage upgrades and conversions.

By thoughtfully structuring your content visibility, you can create a compelling experience that drives engagement and revenue.
