Why: Effectively managing allergens in your app helps ensure the safety and satisfaction of your members by allowing them to filter content based on their dietary restrictions.
Navigate: App Station > Settings > Allergens
Quick Start
Navigate to App Station and select Settings.
Click on Allergens.
Add or edit allergen information for ingredients as needed.
Save your changes — they will auto-save after 1 second of inactivity.
Inform your members about how to filter recipes by allergens in the app.
Understanding the Allergen System
The allergen management system allows you to track and manage allergens in your recipes effectively. This ensures that members can easily find recipes that meet their dietary needs.
FDA Major Allergens
The system tracks the following 9 FDA major allergens:
Milk: Dairy, cheese, cream, butter, whey
Eggs: Eggs, egg products (not eggplant)
Fish: Salmon, tuna, cod, etc.
Shellfish: Shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, oysters
Tree Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans (not coconut)
Peanuts: Peanuts, peanut butter
Wheat: Flour, bread, pasta, semolina (not buckwheat)
Soybeans: Tofu, tempeh, soy sauce, miso
Sesame: Sesame seeds, tahini
Setting Up Allergen Information
As an admin, you can set up allergen information for ingredients in your app. Here’s how:
Navigate to the Allergens Section: Go to App Station > Settings > Allergens.
Select an Ingredient: Choose an app default ingredient you want to manage.
Edit Allergen Information: Expand the Allergens section to select or deselect allergens.
Auto-Save Feature: Your changes will automatically save after 1 second of inactivity.
This setup allows you to create allergen overrides for app default ingredients, ensuring that your recipes reflect the correct allergen information.
How Members Filter Content by Allergens
Members can filter recipes based on allergens to find safe options. When they set their preferences, the app will only show recipes that do not contain the selected allergens. This feature enhances the user experience by allowing members to navigate your content safely.
Important Notes
Automatic Updates: Whenever you update allergen information for an ingredient, the changes automatically propagate to all recipes using that ingredient thanks to our system's triggers.
Member Safety: Always ensure that allergen information is accurate to maintain the trust and safety of your members.
