Why: Enhance your app's content by allowing members to share their feedback on recipes and other offerings. This not only boosts engagement but also helps you improve your offerings based on real user insights.
Navigate: App Station > Settings > Engagement & Community > Ratings
Quick Start
Go to App Station > Settings > Engagement & Community > Ratings.
Toggle Enable Ratings to activate the feature.
Select which content types you want to allow ratings for.
Choose a custom star color for the rating display.
Save your settings.
Understanding the Ratings System
The ratings system allows your members to rate any content type on a 5-star scale. Here’s how it works:
Member Ratings
Rating Submission: Members can rate content by clicking on stars.
Feedback Requirement:
For ratings of 1-2 stars, feedback is mandatory.
For ratings of 3-5 stars, feedback is optional but encouraged.
Approval Process
Auto-Approval: Ratings of 4-5 stars are automatically approved and immediately contribute to public averages.
Admin Review: Ratings of 1-3 stars are held for admin review. You can manage these in the App Station > Member Interactions > User Ratings section before they affect averages.
Public Comments
For ratings of 4-5 stars, members can choose to post their feedback as a public comment. This is separate from the private feedback that you, as an admin, can see. The public comment option is enabled by default and follows your app's comment moderation settings (immediate posting or pre-approval).
Low-Rating Feedback: Feedback for ratings of 1-3 stars is always private and only visible to admins.
Configuring Ratings
You can configure the ratings system in the App Station:
Enable Ratings: Turn the feature on or off.
Content Types: Choose which types of content (recipes, meal plans, etc.) can be rated.
Star Color: Set a custom color for the star icons displayed.
To configure these settings, navigate to App Station > Settings > Engagement & Community > Ratings.
Tip: For more information on managing public comments, see the Comments System.
Detailed Sections
How Ratings Work
Rating Feedback: When a member rates content, their feedback is stored privately for admin review, especially for low ratings.
Public Comments: Members can opt to share their feedback publicly for higher ratings, which can enhance social proof for your content.
Moderation Queue: You can view and manage pending ratings in the admin interface. Only approved ratings will count towards the average rating displayed to members.
Displaying Ratings
Average Ratings: The average rating is displayed alongside the content, rounded to the nearest 0.5.
Visibility: Ratings are shown on content cards and detail pages based on your configuration settings.
Managing Ratings
To manage ratings, go to App Station > Member Interactions > User Ratings. Here, you can:
Filter ratings by approval status (all, pending, approved).
Approve or revoke ratings as needed.
Respond to members via email regarding their feedback.
Daily Digest
Pending ratings are included in your daily admin digest email, helping you stay updated on member feedback.
Best Practices
Regularly check the moderation queue to ensure timely responses to member feedback.
Encourage members to leave feedback by highlighting the benefits of sharing their thoughts on your content.
