What is a Weekly Schedule?

A Weekly Schedule is a powerful tool that delivers content to your members on a week-by-week basis. Instead of having members sift through a library of content, the schedule provides a clear plan for what to cook each week.

Each schedule consists of numbered weeks, each containing various content items such as recipes, meal plans, and resources. Members can view the current week's content through the This Week block on your app's pages.

Setting Up a Schedule

To create your first Weekly Schedule, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to App Station > Weekly Schedules and click Create Schedule.

  2. Configure the following settings:

    • Title: Choose a descriptive name for your schedule (e.g., "Weekly Meal Plan").

    • Access Level: Select which subscription tier will access this schedule.

    • Start Date: Set the date when week 1 begins.

    • Rotating: Choose whether the schedule will loop back to week 1 after the last week.

  3. Click Add Week to create individual weeks. For each week, provide:

    • Title: An optional name for the week.

    • Summary: A brief description of what the week includes.

    • Draft Toggle: Use this to mark weeks that are still in progress and should not be visible to members.

  4. Assign content to each week by selecting recipes, meal plans, or resources.

  5. Once everything is set, toggle the schedule to Active to make it live.

Rotating vs Linear

When setting up your schedule, you can choose between two modes:

  • Rotating Mode: This option loops back to week 1 after the last week. It's ideal for finite, reusable content (e.g., a 12-week rotation for seasonal meal plans).

  • Linear Mode: This option progresses forward and ends after the last week. You must add new weeks to keep the schedule going. This is suitable for always-new content.

Decide based on your content strategy: use rotating for limited-time offerings and linear for ongoing, fresh content.

The Dual Publishing Model

Understanding the dual publishing model is crucial for effectively managing your Weekly Schedule. There are two visibility paths for content:

  1. Schedule Visibility: Content appears in the This Week block regardless of its publish date. This means you can show content without a publish date, making it visible only in the schedule.

  2. Library Visibility: Content only appears in search, browse, and content grids if it has a past publish date.

Here’s a practical overview of how these combinations work:

What You Want

Publish Date

Schedule

Result

Schedule-only (hidden from library)

Do not set

Add to week

Shows in "This Week" only

Schedule + library

Set to the week start date

Add to week

Shows everywhere

Library-only (not in a schedule)

Set to any past date

Do not add

Shows in library only

This model allows you to curate exclusive content for your members while managing visibility effectively.

Current Week and Next Week

The This Week block always displays two weeks: the current week and the upcoming week. This setup allows members to:

  • Generate a shopping list from next week's meal plan.

  • Customize their meal plan by swapping recipes or adjusting servings.

  • Prep ahead by starting to cook components or batch recipes.

You can toggle the visibility of the next week off if you prefer a simpler view.

Managing Weeks

You can easily manage the weeks within your schedule:

  • Add Weeks: Click Add Week to create new weeks.

  • Edit Weeks: Modify titles, summaries, and content as needed.

  • Reorder Weeks: Only future weeks can be reordered. Current and past weeks are locked to maintain the member experience.

  • Draft Weeks: Mark weeks as drafts to skip them automatically until they are ready.

Content within a week can be reordered using drag-and-drop functionality.

Multiple Schedules for Multiple Tiers

You can create one schedule per access level, allowing you to tailor experiences for different subscription tiers. For example:

  • Basic Tier: May receive a simple weekly meal plan.

  • Premium Tier: Could access a comprehensive plan with additional resources and prep guides.

The This Week block automatically shows the appropriate schedule based on the member's access level.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Name Weeks Clearly: Use descriptive titles (e.g., "Week 1: Mediterranean Focus") to help members understand the theme.

  • Use Summaries: Provide shopping tips or highlights in the summary section of each week.

  • Batch Create Content: Plan and create content 4-8 weeks ahead to stay organized.

  • Utilize Draft Weeks: Use draft weeks for content still being developed to avoid confusion.

  • Consider a Public Library: Maintain a small public library alongside the schedule for SEO benefits and to attract new members.

By following these guidelines, you can maximize the effectiveness of your Weekly Schedule and enhance the experience for your members.
